Hungary Withdraws from ICC Amid Netanyahu’s Visit

Hungary has decided to withdraw from the International Criminal Court (ICC), Minister of State Gergely Gulyas announced. The move comes as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who faces an ICC arrest warrant for war crimes in Gaza, visits Budapest.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who had invited Netanyahu despite the warrant, has criticized the ICC’s decision, calling it a “mockery.” Hungary, a founding ICC member, was legally required to arrest Netanyahu but had already signaled non-compliance.

Netanyahu’s visit to Hungary marks his first trip to an ICC member state since the warrant was issued.
