Hurricane Otis Hits Mexico

Hurricane Otis made landfall in Acapulco, Guerrero state, Mexico, causing strong winds and heavy rains in the southern region. Anticipating wind speeds of 270 kilometers per hour, authorities issued warnings of coastal flooding and dangerous waves. The US National Hurricane Center forecasted up to 20 inches of rain for Guerrero and Oaxaca. President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador urged at-risk residents to seek shelter and avoid riverbanks, and school activities were suspended in Guerrero. Military personnel conducted coastal inspections in Acapulco in response to the hurricane’s impact.
