A new eruption occurred at Ibu Volcano in Indonesia’s North Maluku province, spewing ash and smoke to a height of 5 kilometers. Locals and tourists were advised to stay at least 7 feet away from the active crater. Meanwhile, the National Disaster Prevention Agency stated that sudden floods and cold lava flows may occur due to the expected heavy rainfall.
Authorities had issued the highest alert level against the 1,325-meter-high volcano since May 16.
