“If anyone wants to do evil against us, Azerbaijani children are able to respond accordingly”: 2nd Karabakh War Veteran

Two years after Azerbaijan’s victory over Armenia in the 2nd Karabakh War, the veterans of the war who were preparing to celebrate the anniversary of the victory, the liberation of Shusha and the victory Day on November 8, shared their thoughts.

Ghazi İlkin Ferzaliyev, who planted the Azerbaijani flag in the Sugovushan Village of Terter province, which was liberated from the occupation, said, “When I came to my unit after planting our flag in Sugovushan, my commanders congratulated me. There were many letters, especially from our people, from small children. An old woman sent us food and bread with the money left from her retirement salary. In the letter, she said that this was the best she could do. Stuff like this would boost our morale a lot. From little children to elders, all the people were with the soldiers,”.

Expressing that the Azerbaijani army showed the Armenian army their place thanks to the policies of President Ilham Aliyev, Ferzaliyev said, “We have liberated our lands that were under enemy occupation. As for every soldier, Victory Day was difficult, honorable, beautiful, and sad for us. It was good because we no longer had any occupied land. It was sad because amongst the people we had fought shoulder to shoulder since the first day, there are only a couple left now. If anyone wants to do evil against us, Azerbaijani children are able to respond accordingly. Do no doubt it. We are no longer barefoot and unarmed people like we were in 1991-1992. Azerbaijani children, who have won many battles, is waiting. May Allah protect the people of Azerbaijan, our Commander-in-Chief. I wish mercy to our martyrs and health and long life to our veterans,”.

Stating that he had voluntarily enlisted in the army during the Second Karabakh War, Ghazi Zakir Imanov said, “First of all, I fought in the directions of Talyshkent, Zangilan, Fuzuli and Sugovushan. I was wounded in the clashes in the direction of Sugovushan on November 5th. After staying one day in the hospital, I joined the war again. We captured the Armenians’ tank in Sugovushan,”.

Imanov also said, “Although it is also sad, November 8 is our most beautiful day. Our people supported us in the war. Our army was strong, we had strong commanders. Thanks to their tactics, we liberated our lands from occupation and planted the Azerbaijani flag on each of our lands. May Allah protect our Commander-in-Chief, our people, and our army for keeping us alive today. May God have mercy on our martyrs who made us see the November 8 Victory Day and heal our veterans.”

Stating that they tried to do their best even in the most difficult moments of the Second Karabakh War, Ghazi Gafar Ferzaliyev said, “For this, we and everyone are proud. First of all, we would like to thank Mr. President. Thirty years later, he blessed us with this honor. He gave us orders and we blocked the enemy. Our biggest pain is our martyrs. Each of them was a brother, a father, a friend, and a confidant for us. It is very difficult for us that they are not alive today. Victory Day is a beautiful day for us. It is a great honor to celebrate the victory of our homeland. I am very happy that our nation is happy. May Allah protect our nation from grief and sorrow. Our nation should rejoice because it is the nation of a victorious army. May God give patience to the families of our martyrs,”.
