On May 20, the fire that broke out on the container ship MV X-Press Pearl, carrying 25 tons of nitric acid, different chemicals and cosmetic products near the coast of Sri Lanka. Despite extinguishing the fire, the chemical waste found in the container ship caused environmental disaster. Sri Lanka Air force personnel wearing protective clothing collected and cleared the beach areas from debris and other materials.
