Increase in Algae Causes Kars Dam Lake to Turn Green

Kars Dam Lake, which is filled by the Kars River in the province of Kars in Türkiye, turned green due to an increase in algae, worrying locals who urged authorities to investigate the causes of the color change.

“The color of the water is completely green right now. The greenness starts in front of the dam and spreads backwards,” said a local.
