Indonesia Floods and Landslides Claim 27 Lives

Floods and landslides triggered by heavy rainfall on Indonesia’s Sumatra island have left 27 dead and 20 injured, with the toll rising as rescue teams search for missing individuals in mud-covered highways in North Sumatra’s Deli Serdang region.

The disaster has also caused significant damage to homes, mosques, and agricultural lands, while disrupting regional elections in Medan, the provincial capital. Authorities continue efforts to locate survivors and assess the destruction across affected areas, including Karo, South Tapanuli, and Padang Lawas.
