A famous Iranian actress, Taraneh Alidoosti, who was detained for supporting the Mahsa Amini protests, was paroled from Evin Prison in Tehran. The actress supported the protests, which started in the Iranian capital after Mahsa Amini’s death on September 16, by sharing her headscarfless photos on her social media account. Alidoosti was subsequently detained on December 17 for “supporting anti-regime demonstrations in the country”, “sharing false and distorted content” and “inciting protests.”
Alidoosti’s mother, Nadire Hekimullah announced on social media that her daughter had been released. Alidoosti was greeted with flowers by Iranian film actors and fans in front of the prison.
