The Iranian religious leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei met with Hamas Shura Council Chairman Mohammad Darwish Ismail, Hamas Political Bureau Deputy Chairman Khalil al-Hayya and Hamas West Bank Organization Chairman Zahir Jabbarin in the capital Tehran.
After congratulating Hamas and the people of Gaza for setting an example for the Islamic world with their resistance, Khamenei touched on the recent threats against Iran by the US: “Such threats do not affect the decisions of our nation and our authorities. The Iranian nation firmly believes that the Palestinian people must be supported, and there is no doubt about this. Supporting Palestine is a fundamental issue for us, and we see Palestine’s victory as certain.”
In response, the Hamas officials thanked Iran for its support of the resistance movement and said, “The victory of the Gaza resistance is a joint victory for us and the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
