Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived at the 81st UN General Assembly in New York, using the global stage to openly challenge the organization’s credibility. Pointing to the event’s “Rebuilding Trust” slogan, Araghchi argued it proves that nations “no longer have any trust in the organization, or that trust has diminished.” He emphasized that Iran’s main goal at the summit is to defend its people against what he described as a “cowardly war waged against us by the US and the Zionist regime.” While doubting the UN’s actual success in establishing global peace, he acknowledged its vital importance as a platform to ensure Iran’s voice is heard worldwide.
