Iraq-Based Group Targets Southern Israel with Drones

The Iraq-based Islamic Resistance Organization claimed responsibility for two drone attacks on southern Israel, sharing footage of the launches on social media. The group stated that the strikes were carried out in solidarity with Lebanon and Palestine. Israel has not commented on the attacks.

Last week, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar addressed the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), criticizing Iraq for allowing such attacks from its territory. Saar emphasized, “The Iraqi government is obliged under international law to prevent its territory from being used as a base for attacks,” and reaffirmed Israel’s right to self-defense.
