Iraqi Prime Minister Sudani Meets with Pezeshkian in Tehran

 

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia Sudani, during his official visit to Tehran, underscored the importance of Syria’s stability for peace in the region. Speaking alongside Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Sudani stated, “Syria’s stability is the key to the stability of the region,” calling for a comprehensive international solution to the Syrian crisis.

Sudani condemned Israeli actions in Gaza, labeling them a “genocidal war,” and warned that Israel’s violations threaten regional peace. He reiterated Iraq’s respect for the Syrian people’s political choices and announced Baghdad’s plans for a regional stability conference.

The leaders also discussed strengthening bilateral ties, focusing on energy, railway projects, and housing development. Pezeshkian reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to supporting Iraq’s welfare and security, emphasizing that cooperation on trade and security agreements would advance relations further. Both leaders stressed the need for Syria’s territorial integrity and enhanced regional collaboration to combat terrorism.
