Iraq’s Kirkuk goes silent as curfew declared amid clashes

The streets of Kirkuk fell silent after the curfew was declared after the violence that broke out after the decision of Sadr Group leader Muqtada Sadr to quit politics. The Iraqi Joint Operations Command announced that the curfew will be implemented across the country from 7:00 pm local time until the next announcement. Few people were on the streets, along with patrolling security forces.

While armed clashes continued in the capital, Baghdad, the number of people who lost their lives in the incidents rose to 12.
