Ireland Withdraws From 2027 Eurovision

Following a similar move by the Netherlands, Ireland has officially withdrawn from the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest in protest of Israel’s continued participation. The country’s national broadcaster, RTE, stated that competing is “inappropriate given the horrific and ongoing loss of life and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.” RTE also highlighted its deep concern over the persistent obstruction of international journalists attempting to access the region. This decision marks the second consecutive year of Eurovision boycotts from both nations. Ireland’s absence will be heavily felt by fans, as the country currently shares the all-time record of seven Eurovision victories with Sweden.
