Israel votes on judicial reform amid protests

The controversial judicial reform of Benjamin Netanyahu’s government in Israel is being voted in the Knesset today. Ignoring the hot weather, tens of thousands of demonstrators flocked to the streets with flags and drums, calling for the abolition of judicial reform.

The reform includes limiting the powers of the Supreme Court, overriding court decisions by parliament, and reducing the influence of the judiciary on the selection of judges.
