Tensions flared in the Israeli-occupied West Bank after a 14-year-old Israeli settler was shot by an Israeli soldier. In response, dozens of Israeli settlers attacked the military base housing the Binyamin Brigade, setting fire to vehicles and clashing with Israeli security forces.
Six settlers were detained. The Israeli army said the soldier mistook the youth for a Palestinian and fired into the air. The teen was later found to have been hit by live fire.
Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich condemned the settler violence, calling it a “red line” and said “criminals must be tried.”
