Israeli soldiers raided, and demolished Palestinian Salhiya family’s house, located in the occupied East Jerusalem’s Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, with bulldozers. The Israeli soldiers detained about 13 people in the house and family supporters in the early hours of the morning, and then began demolition with bulldozers. Also, Israeli soldiers surrounded the house and prevented people to come close to building.
An Israeli police spokesperson said 18 family members and supporters were detained for “violating a court order, violent fortification and disturbing public order”. “Israel police completed the execution of an eviction order of illegal buildings built on grounds designated for a school for children with special needs from east Jerusalem. Members of the family living in the illegal buildings were given countless opportunities to hand over the land with consent,” Israeli police said in a statement.
On the other hand, the land where the Salhiya family’s house on had been allocated for the construction of a school. Therefore family has been facing the threat of being evicted from their homes since 2017.
