Israeli Strikes Target Journalists in Southern Lebanon

On Monday, two Israeli strikes targeted journalists reporting on developments in the southern Lebanese village of Yaroun. As journalists gathered to cover a previous strike on a house, a drone targeted them twice. The second missile hit while a journalist was reporting the initial attack. Al Jazeera reported injuries to its photographer Issam Mawasi and damage to their vehicle.

On October 14, Lebanon’s Foreign Ministry lodged a complaint with the UN Security Council, citing Israel’s deliberate killing of Lebanese photojournalist Issam Abdallah, a Reuters employee.

The day before, an Israeli strike hit journalist teams on the outskirts of Alma al-Shaab in southern Lebanon. The attack killed Abdallah and injured five other journalists from Reuters, Agence France-Presse, and Al Jazeera.
