Istanbul Demolitions Target Earthquake-Risk Buildings

In Istanbul, the ongoing demolition of earthquake-risk structures persists, with Toya Plaza on the E-5 highway in Zeytinburnu currently undergoing demolition due to seismic concerns. Construction machines are steadily dismantling the building after implementing necessary safety precautions. Following this demolition, speculation arises about the area’s future plans.

The demolition extends to an unfinished building standing for 33 years, garnering attention in the district. Similarly, Zeytinburnu Municipality is overseeing the removal of another structure whose construction began in 1990. This building, left incomplete for 33 years, served as a prominent landmark near the Cevizlibağ Metrobus stop. Despite the demolition, traffic remained unaffected, thanks to safety measures. Aerial views captured the machinery at work, reflected in the lens of the cameras, portraying the extensive demolition process. Intrigue surrounds the redevelopment prospects for the region post-demolition.
