The 2023-2024 academic year commenced today, marking the beginning of classes for approximately 20 million students in Türkiye. On the inaugural day of the school year, Istanbul experienced significant traffic congestion, particularly on its major roads, starting from the early morning hours.
According to data from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), traffic congestion in Istanbul reached 60 percent.
