Italy coast guard rescues more than 1,000 migrants

The Italian Coast Guard reported that the rescue operation, which was launched at different points in the Mediterranean Sea after three migrant boats were detected in the territorial waters of the country, was completed yesterday. As a result of search and rescue efforts, more than a thousand immigrants have been rescued since yesterday.

On the other hand, the death toll from the boat disaster that occurred on February 26 off the coast of Steccato di Cutro, a coastal town in Crotone in the Calabria region of Italy, has risen to seventy-four. Thirty people were reported missing.
