Italy rescued 745 migrants in Mediterranean

Italian Coast Guard teams rescued 745 migrants in two different operations in the Mediterranean. In the first operation, carried out in coordination with the coast guard of the Reggio Calabria city, 295 migrants trying to enter Italy on a fishing boat were rescued. Teams rescued 450 immigrants during the second operation.

In addition to the Italian Coast Guard teams, the EU Border Protection Agency (Frontex) and 3 commercial ships also supported the rescue operations.
