Japan Earthquake Death Toll Reaches 64

 

The death toll from the 7.6 magnitude Ishikawa earthquake in Japan has risen to 64, marking the third increase in casualties. The quake, felt across Toyama, Niigata, Fukui, and Gifu, intensified on the 3rd following its January 1 occurrence. Fatalities surged in Wajima, Suzu, Nanao, and Hakui cities. At least 369 individuals sustained injuries, with 304 in Ishikawa, 36 in Toyama, 21 in Niigata, 6 in Fukui, 1 in Gifu, and 1 in Nagano. Search, rescue, and recovery operations, aided by the Self-Defense Forces, persisted amid widespread devastation.
