Japanese Traveler Captivated by Türkiye’s Remote Highlands

Drawn by its unique alpine geography, Japanese traveler Masato Kano recently journeyed to the rugged highlands of Yüksekova in southeastern Türkiye. Guided by a local mountaineer, Kano trekked through pristine plateaus to discover rare endemic flora, including the famous “weeping bride” inverted tulips and the local “plateau banana.” The traveler praised the breathtaking scenery set against the snowy Cilo Mountains, alongside the exceptional warmth and hospitality of the local community. Thanks to an increasingly peaceful environment, Yüksekova is rapidly emerging as a popular new destination for international trekking and nature enthusiasts.
