Japanese youth celebrates Coming of Age Day in kimonos

Thousands of people flocked to the historical Asakusa district in the capital Tokyo, Japan, on Coming of Age Day, on which the 20th age of Japanese youth is celebrated since they reach adulthood. Celebrating this special day in and around Sensoji Temple, which is the symbol of the district, the young people posed for photos wearing traditional Japanese kimonos.

“I am very excited to be 20 years old and an adult,” said Sayaka Ato.
