Japan’s NHK Faces Protests Over Israel-Palestine Reporting

On World Press Freedom Day, protesters gathered at NHK’s Tokyo headquarters, criticizing the broadcaster’s coverage of Israel-Palestine news. The demonstrators urged NHK to report on Gaza’s human tragedy impartially. They chanted slogans like “Freedom for Palestine” and “NHK, do your duty” while holding banners honoring slain journalists. Michalle Goldsmith, speaking for the group, questioned NHK’s obligation to inform the public about Israel’s actions, especially given the civilian casualties. Goldsmith emphasized that Israel’s actions do not represent all Jews and called on NHK to listen to their concerns.
