Kazakhstan lower flags, mourn killed citizents in recent unrest

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev declared national mourning in the country after 164 people were killed in recent unrest and riot in the country. Flags were lowered at half-mast in all government buildings in the country and at foreign representative offices. The internet access has been restored after the access remained disabled for 5 days in Almaty. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan announced that a total of 7,939 people were detained during the efforts carried out to identify and arrest those who participated in the riots. Almaty Governor Bakytzhan Sagintayev also stated that life in the region is starting to return to normal.
