Kenyan President Dodges Shoe Amid Economic Protests

Kenyan President William Ruto blocked a shoe thrown at him during a rally in Migori while addressing public anger over rising living costs. The incident occurred as Ruto defended his government’s move to lower fertilizer prices. Three people were arrested in connection with the attack.

Ruto has faced growing unrest over tax hikes introduced to reduce foreign debt. Protests turned deadly, leaving 23 dead and 30 injured. In response, Ruto withdrew the controversial bill, saying, “I have decided to step back.”
