After the assassination attempt on former Pakistani PM, Imran Khan, Khan’s party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, called on supporters to a nationwide protest. Hundreds of people took to the streets and demanded a transparent investigation into the assassination attempt.
The demonstrators who gathered in front of the Punjab Governor’s Mansion in the city of Lahore tried to enter the building and broke the security cameras. Some burned tires in front of the building. Traffic was also disrupted as demonstrators blocked the Shahrah-e-Faisal road, one of the country’s busiest roads.
In the protests held in many cities such as Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, and the capital city of Islamabad, police responded with tear gas and detained many demonstrators. It was also seen that PTI supporters threw stones at the security guards.
