Kherson residents celebrate Russia’s retreat

People have been celebrating in the streets for 3 days in the Ukrainian city of Kherson, where Russian forces announced their complete withdrawal on November 11. People gathered in the city, which has been occupied by Russian forces for about 9 months, with Ukrainian flags, chanted slogans, sang songs, and marched. The Olena and Sergey Yahemchuk couple also attended the celebrations and expressed their joy at being able to save their city from occupation. “When the so-called referendum was held, Russian soldiers stopped people in the streets and forced them to sign papers. There were no Kherson residents who voted in the referendum,” the Yahemchuk couple said.
