North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un told the Supreme People’s Assembly that Pyongyang will “never give up” its nuclear weapons, warning they are essential to deterring US and allied threats. He accused Washington, Seoul, and Tokyo of escalating tensions with military drills and said North Korea is ready to respond to any threat, even with nuclear strikes if forced.
Despite this, Kim said he could consider negotiations with the US, recalling his meetings with Donald Trump, but only if Washington “abandons its empty obsession with nuclear disarmament” and accepts North Korea’s status as a nuclear power. He ruled out talks or reunification with South Korea, accusing Seoul of surrendering sovereignty to foreign powers.
Kim also praised North Korean fighters deployed to Russia’s Kursk region, saying their “heroic deeds” boosted youth support for the army.
