A weeks-long political crisis in Kosovo was resolved just hours before a constitutional deadline with the election of 73-year-old Justina Shiroka Pula as the new president. Shiroka Pula, who heads the country’s Academy of Sciences and Arts, secured 81 votes in the 120-seat parliament. The former Minister of Economy immediately emphasized a message of national unity following her victory. “This authority does not belong to just one person, it belongs to our citizens,” she stated, promising to be a president for all.
