Kosovo Prime Minister Kurti: “Our goal is to calm the situation”

As the tension between Kosovo and Serbia continues, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti published a video message on his social media account. Kurti stated that despite the boycott of Kosovo Serbs, resulting in a low turnout rate in the early local elections held in the Serb-dominated municipalities in northern Kosovo, the elected mayors are the only ones who have legitimacy in the municipal buildings and in serving the public. They also have unconditional and uninterrupted support. Stating that yesterday’s and today’s protests were neither peaceful nor for the municipality but to seize power, Kurti said, “Power in Kosovo can only be achieved through elections. Not with violence and crime.” In the last hours, our institutions have further increased communication with international partners, as our common goal is to calm the situation.
