Kosovo has recorded its first-ever death from the West Nile Virus following the passing of a 66-year-old patient at the Kosovo University Clinical Center. The individual was admitted to the Infectious Diseases Clinic on September 10 in a critical state with acute brain inflammation, having already received five days of outpatient care prior to hospitalization. Medical staff immediately initiated emergency treatment and officially confirmed the diagnosis with a positive RT-PCR test for the virus. Despite being transferred to intensive care and receiving comprehensive medical interventions, the patient ultimately succumbed to the infection on September 15.
