The Kosovo president said that Kosovo will apply for EU membership by the end of the year to reporters before the European Union-Western Balkans Summit held in Tirana.
Osmani stated that the difficulties that emerged in the fields of economy, energy and security after the war in Ukraine will be brought to the agenda at the summit and that Kosovo’s application for EU membership will also be discussed.
Osmani said that Kosovo’s expectation from European Union members is, first of all, to provide visa exemption to Kosovo.
Emphasizing that the summit is not planned for negotiations between Serbia and Kosovo and that she will not meet with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic within the scope of the summit, Osmani said that the summit is about the EU and Western Balkan countries, not the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.
Evaluating Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic’s insults towards Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, the Kosovo leader said that the attitude represents a continuation of Serbia’s mentality that led to war and killing of civilians in the 1990s.
