Lake Marmara in Türkiye Refills After Five-Year Drought

Following a devastating five-year drought, Lake Marmara in western Türkiye has been successfully revived thanks to abundant seasonal rainfall and regional water management projects. The newly restored wetlands have sparked a rapid ecological recovery, welcoming back vibrant flocks of migratory birds such as flamingos and pelicans. This spectacular natural awakening has also transformed the lake’s calm waters into a fresh destination for eco-tourism and outdoor recreation. Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) athletes and nature photographers from nearby cities are already flocking to the region to experience the revitalized landscape. Local communities and wildlife experts are celebrating the historic lake’s resurgence as a vital victory for both environmental conservation and regional tourism.
