Landing Helicopter crashes in Russia, kills 3 aboard

Three people were killed when a MI-8 helicopter caught fire while landing at Baikal Airport in Russia’s Autonomous Republic of Buryatia. According to Russian officials, the newly manufactured helicopter had not yet been delivered to its owner and was not in use. Airport firefighters and Buryatia Emergency Service personnel extinguished the fire.

An investigation into the incident has begun. The fire was started by the helicopter’s engines, according to preliminary investigations.
