Landslide Hits Fire-Stricken Turkish Village

The village of Dereiçi in Artvin’s Yusufeli district, previously devastated by a fire in 2021, is now grappling with landslides. Soil and rocks loosened by melting snow damaged six houses, with debris entering one home and filling the living room. Residents inside narrowly escaped harm but endured moments of terror.

The village, which saw 193 structures, including 52 homes, destroyed in the 2021 fire, had recently received new homes from government. However, the recurring natural disasters continue to disrupt the lives of its residents.
