landslide hits Georgia’s racha

Heavy rains led to landslides in the mountainous resort town of Shovi in Georgia’s Racha region. At least 11 people lost their lives and 25 went missing, said the Georgian Interior Ministry.

Two bridges were destroyed and the roads were covered with mud in Racha. Helicopters have been deployed to evacuate more than 200 people, and search and rescue efforts are said to continue with 400 people.
