A landslide occurred at a camping area in Selangor state’s Batang Kali district, about 50 kilometers north of Malaysia’s capital, Kuala Lumpur. At least 16 people were killed, including a 5-year-old boy, 7 others were taken to hospitals, and 17 people were still missing, a local official said, adding that an estimated 94 people were at the area during the landslide.
More than 400 people are involved in search and rescue efforts, including detection dogs.
