A landslide in the town of Monkayo in the southern Philippines that occurred as a result of heavy rains buried a house underground. The Civil Defense Office Regional Directorate reported that at least 7 people, including children, died, 2 people were heavily injured, and 5 to 10 people were still missing. The directorate stated that many villages were exposed to floods as well.
The Philippines frequently battles against landslides and floods and is hit by about 20 tropical storms a year.
