landslides and flash floods kill 16 in india, isolating elephant

Sixteen people were killed in floods and landslides caused by heavy rains in the northern state of Uttarakhand in India. Roads and homes were flooded across the state. Part of the bridge in Haldwani area collapsed. An elephant was also stranded in the middle of the Gaula River. Forest Department officials announced that the elephant was being monitored

The Indian Meteorological Department has warned that heavy rains will continue in the state for the next few days.
