A fire broke out for an unknown reason in the Marywilska 44 shopping mall, located in Warsaw, the capital of Poland, completely engulfed the entire 65,000-square-meter building and reduced 1,348 shops to ashes. The fire was brought under control hours later, and there were no casualties. Around 2,000 people lost their jobs at the mall, and a total of millions of dollars of financial damage were dealt to business owners.
Fire Brigade General Manager Mariusz Feltynowski said that it was suspicious how the flames entirely engulfed such large building in just 11 minutes. Warsaw police launched an investigation into the incident.
