Cumbre Vieja Volcano on La Palma Island, one of the Canary Islands group in southwest Spain, continues to spew lava. Since last Sunday, 6,000 of the 80,000 people living on the island have been evacuated to safe areas. The lava flowing through the cracks after the eruption continued its way through the settlements and approached the more densely populated shores of the island. The lava was recorded filling a swimming pool of a house. No casualties or injuries have been reported so far. The lava has destroyed 166 homes. Scientists state that lava flows from the volcano, which has become active 50 years later, may last for weeks or months.
