Lebanon Death Toll Tops 4,200

The Lebanese Ministry of Health reports that the death toll from ongoing Israeli attacks has reached 4,247, with over 12,000 injured since early March. The intense bombardments continue to ravage the country despite a ceasefire, following a chain of retaliatory clashes triggered by joint U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran in late February. Seeking to defuse the crisis, officials from the U.S., Israel, and Lebanon signed a trilateral agreement in Washington to transfer control of Israeli-occupied territories back to the Lebanese Armed Forces. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu welcomed the pilot project, stating it aims to disarm Hezbollah and restore border control to the Lebanese army. However, Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem has fiercely rejected the arrangement, condemning the framework as a direct threat to Lebanon’s sovereignty.
