Lee Jae-myung Sworn In as South Korea’s New President

Democratic Party candidate Lee Jae-myung has officially begun his 5-year term as South Korea’s president after winning early elections with 49.42% of the vote.

Following the impeachment of former President Yoon Suk-yeol over martial law declarations, Lee assumed office without a transition process. He took over from Acting President Lee Ju-ho, with an oath ceremony held at the National Assembly.
