The Libyan Illegal Immigration Control Department has deported more than 170 illegal Chadian migrants to their home country as part of a security plan issued by the department’s head, Mohamed Khoja. Last week, a group of illegal Chadian migrants was arrested in Tripoli’s south and deported the following day. The ongoing insecurity and chaos in Libya since the fall of Muammar Gaddafi’s regime in 2011 has prompted many migrants, especially Africans, to cross the Mediterranean Sea to European shores from Libya.
