Lightning Strike Causes Forest Fire in Kastamonu

The forested area located on the borders of Cambaz and Koçcağız villages in İhsangazi district of Türkiye’s Kastamonu’s has been burning for 19 hours due to a fire caused by lightning yesterday evening.

“As of 17.30 yesterday evening, there were very serious lightning strikes, especially around Ilgaz Mountain. More than 10 fires broke out. We have extinguished 9 of them. Hopefully, we will take the fire here under control within 1-2 hours,” said Kastamonu Forest Regional Director Fahri Sönmezoğlu.
