Major Wildfire Burns 13,250 Acres in New Jersey

 

A wildfire in New Jersey has scorched 13,250 acres since Tuesday, forcing over 5,000 evacuations in Barnegat, Lacey, and Ocean townships. One business was destroyed, and 12 structures remain at risk.

The New Jersey Forest Fire Service reported the “Jones Road wildfire” is 50% contained. Power outages were reported but have since been restored.

Officials say this could be the state’s largest wildfire in two decades. No injuries or fatalities have been reported. The cause is under investigation.
