Man Brings Sister’s Skeleton to Bank For Money in India

A severe miscommunication in the Indian state of Odisha led a 50-year-old man to bring his deceased sister’s skeleton into a local bank to access her funds. Jeetu Munda resorted to exhuming the remains after staff repeatedly insisted that the account holder needed to be physically present to withdraw the 180-euro balance. Local police explained that Munda did not understand the legal inheritance process, and bank officials had failed to adequately clarify the necessary paperwork to him. Following the unusual incident, authorities stepped in to ensure the sister’s remains were properly reburied under police supervision.
